South Towns Community Federal Credit Union was formed in 1967 by employees of the South Buffalo
Railway employees. They wanted an alternative to commercial
financial institutions and to provide low interest loans and safe savings vehicles for their fellow employees. As a member-owned cooperative financial institution, the
credit union now has over 4000 members, assests exceeding 10m and has grown to serve many employees of various companies. As another financial institution, we may
appear similar to a bank, but there are several differences that make us unique. STCFCU is a not-for-profit cooperative where people who have accounts are members, not
customers. As a member, you own a share of the financial institution, and have one vote, regardless of the size of your account. Our members elect a volunteer board of
directors who establish policies and oversee the operations of the credit union. Profits earned by the credit union are returned directly to you and your fellow members in
the form of high dividend rates, low loan rates, and reduced fees for services. |
